The Diaspora Project has finally landed!

Diaspora
dʌɪˈasp(ə)rə/
“the dispersion or spread of any people from their original homeland.”
Dear friends, The Diaspora Project has finally landed!

Diaspora is our first project designed specifically to cater to the complex needs of our growing migrant worker population.

Our spotlight is focused on bridging the language and culture gap through the use and support of interpreter’s, translated material on UK rights, healthcare and personal safety. Our aim is to meet the needs our migrant service users who wish to exit sex work in the UK and to support them to build better futures for themselves and their families.

The Diaspora volunteer initiative has enabled us to offer interpreting services at our evening drop in sessions and outreaches. It has also allowed for us to provide these services as and when they are required during our day time floating support appointments.

At present Diaspora mainly caters to the growing Romanian population of on street sex workers, but Diaspora is a fluid project that will evolve and grow to meet the needs of the women we support, regardless of nationality.

We look forward to sharing updates with you as we learn and grow as this project develops.

As part of the launch we decided to put on a delicious spread of traditional Romanian food at our evening drop in.
